A walk about in Milwaukee
Milwaukee, WI. From the Greek Freak to the Bonze Fonz, Milwaukee is a small city with energy and a lot of character. The walk down the Milwaukee river from Brady St down to the main square in downtown is very peaceful yet windy. Along the way the once great Arthur Herbert Fonzarelli, aka Fonzie, will be there to meet you in bronze form. As simple as it is, this statue is one of the most regularly visited attractions for the city.
When in Milwaukee, one needs to visit the Harley Davidson Museum. The site is rich with models of pure artistry. It includes all kinds of Davidson models from big time Hollywood movies. Until visiting that museum, and I feel foolish for not having realized this, I never realized that the famous line Bruce Willis says in Pulp Fiction, ‘Zed’s dead baby, Zed’s dead’ is said while on the back of a Harley Davidson. This type of memorabilia goes back decades in Hollywood films which is amazing to think about! The museum even had a special section for Evil Kenevil, which is more than appropriate.
Walking down to the southern borders of Milwaukee is the Historic Third Ward. This entire section of the city seems uninhabitable. Given it was very cold, and by the lake, where the wind was its strongest. In the summer time, this place would be booming. It is the site where the famous summer fest usually takes place. At the very bottom of the Ward is an old lighthouse that is pale is I am in the winter months, with a distinct red top. It was a perfect spot for a polaroid image to be taken. While there weren’t many other around, I was enjoying the solitude in the moment. Alone and able to think clearly and calmly was something of pure serenity.
Milwaukee is also very well known for its brewery’s. There were independent ones all over the place, but the one that stood out the most was obviously the internationally recognized Milwaukee Brewery.
